Coastal Harvesters, Inc., a non-profit organization, is putting out a call for regional vendors interested in selling goods at a weekly farmers’ market beginning June 21 at Hatteras Realty in Avon. The Hatteras Island Farmers’ Market will be open each Tuesday from 9 AM to 1 PM through the end of August. Providers of fresh local produce, including vegetables, fruits, and eggs are especially encouraged to participate. Fresh breads, pies, preserves, jams, honey and other food items are welcomed. Plants, especially herbs and other edibles are also suitable for sale. Interested artisans offering utilitarian products such as pottery, cutting boards, utensils or cookware are additionally being sought to join the market. Regrettably, current Dare County regulations prohibit the sale of local seafood at farm markets.
Participating vendors will pay a $25 lifetime membership fee to Coastal Harvesters plus a $10 weekly vendor fee for each of the summer’s eleven markets and must fill out a vendor application. Tables may be provided upon request. Small operations can share fees and a table. Please contact Joanne Throne (252 996 0679) or e-mail email@example.com.
This will be the market’s second season. Coastal Harvesters, dedicated to the availability of local foods on the Outer Banks, was pleased with the 2010 market but hopes to see even more participating vendors and customers this year.Printer-friendly version
