Market Starts Off with a Bang

Coastal Harvesters kicked off the 2012 season of the Hatteras Island Farmers’ Market last week. New Market Manager Vicky Lowe brought in several new vendors and reconfigured the space a bit.

Coastal Farmers – Produce offered, depending on seasonal availability, includes tomatoes, corn, squash, peppers, cucumbers, potatoes, berries, peas, eggplant, peaches, herbs, okra, and melons.

Kim Mosher Designs – Specializing in Limited Edition Prints, Tempered Glass Cutting Boards, Casual Active Wear, Note Cards, Posters, Ceramic Tiles, Glass Tiles, Custom Furniture, Custom Tile Installations and Custom Framing for Tiles and Prints. Also offering a cookbook for sale: 25 Secrets – A Culinary Tour by Kevin McCabe.

Ariel’s Dad Jewelry – Daughter-inspired jewelry featuring items from Hatteras Island beaches.

Sweater Box Confections – Homemade baked goods featuring Lemon Lavender Cookies and the infamous “Tomato Thingy,” a tomato galette (sort of looks like a pizza).

Hatteras Island Community Garden – Produce such as herbs, squash, cucumbers, string beans and tomatoes grown in the Coastal Harvesters-sponsored community garden in Buxton. Recipes too provided by Shelby Kinnaird of Avon, aka Diabetic Foodie.

Southern Favors – From one of a kind upcycled gifts, to art gifts and decor that may be repurposed, vintage, current, global, beachy, or any combination of the above, you’ll love these creations from three amazing OBX women.

Kinnakeet Clay – Handcrafted pottery, paintings, prints, photography, handmade soaps, jewelry, skirts, aprons and ornaments.

Blue Pelican Gallery – Featuring art and artistic gifts in many different media, from small gifts (magnets and mugs) to large custom wall art and tiles for kitchen and bath installations, jewelry, pottery, metal, glass, and much, much more.

Outer Banks Sea Salt – Salt hand-harvested from the Atlantic Ocean in small batches.

Vicky Lowe – Kitchen textiles and dinnerware. Vicky also offers yummy treats such as scones and tomato ricotta tarts.

M & E By the Sea – Baked goods, greeting cards, bracelets and “Landfill Fish & Flowers,” made from recycled detergent bottles.

Caroppoli Fine Art & Photography – Photography with an emphasis on organic designs, nature, wildlife and dramatic black & white. Also offering homemade bread and sticky buns.
