Coastal Harvesters, Inc Elects New Officers

Coastal Harvesters, Inc (CHI) elected new officers at an Executive Board meeting held on June 14th. Joanne Throne, President of CHI since its founding in 2009, asked to be relieved of those duties as she has relocated part-time to the Chapel Hill area. Vice-president Bernie Tetreault agreed to step up and was elected President at the Buxton meeting. Throne was then elected to fill the Vice-president’s seat. Carol Bauer was voted CHI’s new Treasurer, a position vacated by the previous Treasurer, Jody Midgett. Rick Anzolut was elected to serve as a Member-at-Large of the Board, a post recently vacated by Robin Jennette.

Upon assuming the Presidency, Tetreault fulfilled CHI By-Laws by appointing Standing Committee Chairpersons who make up the Executive Board along with Officers and Members- at-Large. Throne will chair the Farmers’ Market committee and Tetreault will chair the Community Garden committee. The Chair of the Long Range Planning Committee remains vacant and Tetreault is seeking a leader from the membership.

CHI is a non-profit group dedicated to making fresh, local foods available to Outer Banks communities. It operates the Hatteras Island Community Garden in Buxton and the weekly Hatteras Island Farmers’ Market during the summer in Avon.

The Executive Board is eager to add at-large members to the Executive Board. Members interested should express that interest to any current member of the Board or by email to
